Saturday January 12th was the birthday of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. On this day, transmediale participant Johannes P Osterhoff started his next online performance work, called "Dear Jeff Bezos". For this performance Osterhoff has modified his Kindle to, whenever he saves a bookmark, it is also emailed directly to CEO Jeff Bezos, and published publicly at http://bezos.cc as a comment on Amazon's logging of user data via their “Whispersync” technology. 

Composting the City | Composting the Net is a project by Shu Lea Cheang that examines the parallel degenerative process of fermentation and fragmentation of our daily food scraps and shared digital commons.

ReFunct Media #5 is a multimedia installation that (re)uses numerous "obsolete" electronic devices (digital and analog media players and receivers). The devices are hacked, misused and combined into a large and complex chain of elements. To make an ecological analogy, they "interact" in different symbiotic relationships like mutualism, parasitism and commensalism.

A Networked Art Extravaganza by Vittore Baroni. OCTO-P7C-1 features PNEUMAtic circUS, a networked art project curated by Vittore Baroni and involving a network of more than 100 international mail artists. PNEUMAtic circUS is the first networked art project of pneumatic post.

The amalgamation of theory and practice is a prevalent aspiration in much contemporary art discourse. The ambition is to expand the perspective and relevance of artwork beyond its formal boundaries and to connect the abstractions of the written word to the materiality and experiences of life.

P2P Vorspiel takes place on the weekend from Friday 25 – Sunday 27, 2013. It aims at promoting digital and post-digital culture among independent organisations, project spaces, galleries, and other venues across Berlin as well as strengthening the network among such actors. 

Imaging with Machine Processes. The Generative Art of Sonia Landy Sheridan—Sheridan's first solo exhibition in Europe—presents a wide variety of material relating to this manifold, extensive and truly unique line of work.

Through a selection of 13 artists, Tools of Distorted Creativity questions the notion of creativity that has been instrumental to the development of the personal computer, from its first stationary instantiations in the 1980s to today’s mobile devices.

The Aesthetics Re-loaded conference is taking place at Aarhus University, Denmark, running December 11-13. The aim of the conference is to advance and exchange basic research on aesthetics within the field of new technology. The conference explores the concept of aesthetics by investigating the challenges new computational technologies pose for current aesthetic theory. 

The Researching BWPWAP Conference and PhD Workshop took place at the Centre for Digital Cultures of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg on November 22-24. Around 20 international PhD students and researchers reflected on networked research practices. The meeting will culminate into the publication of a P2P reviewed newspaper. 

In the course of the various editions of transmediale, there have been a number of individual artists frequently presenting their work in the festival's program. In this context, the transmediale archive with its building up index of photo, video and audio materials also intends to contribute to the general documentation ressources of these projects. The OutResourcing Seminar & Artist talks will take place in Bangalore, India on December 3rd. It will run 14.00 – 20.00 UTC (GMT +5:30 hours) and a link for live streaming will be available here. This project explores the pervasive phenomenon of outsourcing from a critical point of view approaching it as a site for production of new hybrid subjectivities and economies –as outResources. 

OCTO, the Official Miscommunication Platform of transmediale 2013. was successfully tested.The work OCTO-P7C-1 Intertubular Pneumatic Packet Distribution System is the result of a joint collaboration between the reSource transmedial culture berlin/transmediale, the Berlin-based collective Telekommunisten, and the group of architects raumlabor berlin.

Last August 2012, during the reSource 002: Out of Place, Out of Time event, three installation projects were launched. Their ongoing production lasted six months, leading to transmediale 2013 BWPWAP, where the final results are shown and performed.

Any film can be perceived as an Imaginary Museum as defined by André Malraux. Film footage photographically preserves the moment in an image. It is put into context through montage; the moments are lined up like images in an imaginary museum.

Our long-time partner festival CTM has announced their 2020 festival under the title LIMINAL. The 21st edition will take place from 24 January to 2 February 2020 at various Berlin venues such as Berghain, HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Radialsystem V, and Kunstquartier Bethanien.
