Drama, Strings and Horns is based on original footage from a GDR newsreel of 1968 which shows the police in action in the West during a demonstration against the emergency legislation. The rearrangement of the film images and the rhythmic nature of the montage exposes both the activities of the police and the composition of the documentary material.
