Rotron, a computer program, comes to life embodied by a funny female person in a hospital bed. She is equipped with only a canister of helium and a telephone to connect with her user. Hostile programs disrupt Rotron’s plan to gain access to secret data. A fight breaks out between electron gladiators. Rotraut Pape’s six-minute film satirizes the science fiction classic Tron (1982), in which events inside a computer game influence the real world. Rotron was created for the second edition of the international video art magazine, Infermental, and was screened at transmediale 2007 as part of a presentation of several Infermental anthologies.
