Actua Tilt
Actua Tilt
Actua Tilt is a masterwork of montage with racing images of Parisian game arcades and strip bars, billboards and newspaper clippings. Young men offer up their loneliness to electronic billiards and shooter games. Loud noises; latent violence. A view of the future from the early sixties: "In the year 1965, or even earlier," announced director Jean Herman (a pseudonym of French writer, Jean Vautrin) at the film's premiere at the West German Short Film Festival, Oberhausen, in 1961: "Man promises to land a human on the moon. Man will land there, certainly – the human, the scientist. But, isn't such a monstrous venture, such reckless progress, followed by the occasional thought of impending catastrophe? The signs have long been there."
