Born in Italy in 1966. Graduation from the University of Pisa. Studies in Linguistics and English and French Literature. In 1992 co-founder of the Multi Art Association in Italy that strives to or­ ganize contemporary art meetings, concentrating on cinema, video and electronic arts. In 1993 working as Gianni Toti's assistant at the CICV. At the moment Simonetta Cargioli is responsible for the CICV's PR and for the distribution of works from the Hérimoncourt center. In addition, she works as a journalist, e.g. writing for the Italian daily "II Manifesto. " The goal of the CICV is to allow researchers, artists, and students to access to the new technologies of image, sound, and communication in order to produce artworks (films, videos, installations, shows, performances, etc.). Thus, since it was created in January 1990, CICV has welcomed hundreds of residents who came from all over the world to stay several weeks or several months. Moreover, the CICV regularly organizes seminars and meetings in France and in foreign coun­tries in order to debate the issue "Art, Sciences, Philosophy". The latest seminar took place in Ja­pan in October 1993 ("Caravan, an Itinerant Seminar"). The experience the CICV has been gathering since 1990 and the cultural and technical evolu­tions of its environment lead it now to open its activities to all the new technologies of image, sound and communication. To that end, a series of technical, administrative andjuridical evaluations are in progress in order to complete the means of research and production of the centre.
Two big projects are presently being studied:
- the setting-up of a digital post­ production line for film-making. It will allow to strengthen a policy aiming to train and initiate authors into the new means of communication.
- the setting-up in France-Com­te of a guide network of communication and exchanges (telematic servers, video conferences, B.B.S. ...) in order to promote the use of new technologies of information in the fields of education, art, economy, and society.
