Information always moves through time and space in the same form of a spiral. The genetic code is stored in the double-helix spiral in the same way as the information in the two rolls of the Torah, the sacred book of Judaism. The sounds of human language move through space in the same way as our solar system moves through the universe. We store information on a computer disc in a spiral form, as we do on a videotape. The light - a word - a name - a code - information is invisible and comes from the darkness, from “somewhere", made visible through the various media. The universe is an information-seeking and -giving system (consciousness).
The installation consists of a metal spiral on which 7 small b/w monitors (information carriers) are mounted. One can walk through the spiral like through a tunnel. At the end of that “tunnel” there is a black sphere - the “somewhere". A small TV transmitter transmits “the information" (in the form of a flame) to the carrier - the spiral and the receivers (TV’s). (Michael Bielicky)
