"Involuntary Conversion" by Jeanne C. Finley, scan from the VideoFest ‘92 program booklet.

Meaning is stunned by language, words function as weapons. The language of the “new media” appears to be a rhetoric low-flying bomber operating in such a minimal altitude that his strategy of mystification and annihilation of the proper meaning of words cannot be registered any more by our radar of everyday perception. A bunch of very finely constructed language mutations, taken from various media sources, are being re-translated and projected into the urban landscape where they have the most destructive effect. The threatening potential of these artificial language bombs is almost physically experienced and revealed.
