Das menschliche Versagen / Menschenrecht auf Fehlbarkeit
Das menschliche Versagen / Menschenrecht auf Fehlbarkeit
An unusual TV essay dealing with a central theme: the imperfection and fallibility consituting (whether we like it or not) the human being. Work continues on ways of insuring/assuring human existence with sophisticated technologies, new forms of insurance policies, by transferring a diverse range of processes to machines, robots and computers. But, as every news broadcast shows, the catastrophes remain omnipresent. 75% of all airplane accidents are cause by human error. That is to say, the fallible human biomass always remains the inferior, weakest link in the chain of technological evolution. At present we are still the ones who construct the machines, but - and here the evolutionary cycle becomes peculiar - the machines condition us. Ultimately, the yearning for the optimized, flawless, new human creation demands the abolition of the self as we know it.
