[epidemiC]
[epidemiC] is an informal group of multi-disciplinary collaborators observing and exploring the phenomena caused by the intrusion of digital information networks in so-called traditional culture. [epidemiC] was officially set up at the beginning of 2001 on occasion of the d-i-n-a 01 festival, with a manifesto on the aesthetics of viral codes. They created the virus biennale.py, which was released at the 2001Venice Biennale with 0100101110101101.ORG. In 2002, at the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt, the group presented AntiMafia, a peer-to-peer software programme which eliminates the need for a leader in digital protest actions, by automising the process. Their last public appearance dates back to 2003, at Ars Electronica, where they presented DoubleBlind, a programme which generated official, but random, invitations to the Linz festival itself.*
