Friday is a day for activism with the 2nd edition to the workshop DIY Feminism Culture this morning in K2, coinciding with Response-Activities in K1, which looks towards the digital citizen and media activists for strategies of political participation. Similarly, Democratic:Ability – Open Forms of Politics explores open movements, collaboration, hacking, and politics.
In honor of the transmediale Award nominated installation, Newton, the program offers a special screening of three films by the artist, Ho Tzu Nyen. Utama – Every Name In History Is I, The Bohemian Rhapsody Project, and Earth will screen consecutively, and afterwards Ho Tzu Nyen will be present for a Q & A session.
As a salute to the Vilém Flusser Award, artists and scientists in residence at the Vilém Flusser Archive will dust off the heavy texts to offer Philosophical Fridays, a reading and discussion of the works of Vilém Flusser. Today’s session will include the newly translated books, Into the Universe of Technical Images and Writing: Does It have a Future?
And two of tonight’s performances, INJECT by Herman Kolgen and Face Visualizer: Instrument and Copy by Daito Manabe verge on the grotesque, as the human body is subjected to a lack to oxygen in the first piece, and face manipulation through electroshocks in the second.
