Julius von Bismarck was originally born in Germany and spent his youth growing up in Saudi-Arabia and Germany. He studied and worked in New York and at Fine Arts University of Berlin (UDK) with Prof. Joachim Sauter, where he is completing his studies with Olafur Eliasson at the Institute for Spatial Experiments.Drawing on techniques from the fields of visual arts, film, social and physical sciences, his artistic and cinematographic work, as a camera operator, focus on the use of different media to explore our perception, representation and reconstruction of reality.To date the objects, installations and devices he has created have examined these themes with emphasis placed on the construction of our urban spaces, authorship and ownership. Considered as one of the most innovative young artists in the field, von Bismarck received the Ars Electronica, 2008 Golden Nica, for his work ‘Image Fulgurator’.
