Lost in Music
“Lost in Music" is a television series which deals with diverse music-related subcultures in Germany. Each o f the magazine's approximately 50 minute episodes reports about one musical genre and its scene: the bands and musicians, concert organisers, producers, labels, distributors, editors of fanzines and - last but not least - the fans.
It is part of the concept of the series to do without any commentary “from outside"; by the montage of remarks made by the protagonists themselves, a picture of the respective scene emerges. A further conceptual principle is to combine a documentary strand with extremely concentrated, artificial short contributions which deal with details of each theme: clothing, instruments, rituals... Lost in Music was awarded the "Silver Cable" and the "Adolf Grimme Prize '94" for its "inno vative style" and the "lively, unconven tional manner" in which each topic was handled.
