“Lost in Music" is a television series which deals with diverse music-related subcultures in Germany. Each o f the magazine's approximately 50 minute episodes reports about one musical genre and its scene: the bands and musicians, concert organisers, pro­ducers, labels, distributors, editors of fanzines and - last but not least - the fans.
It is part of the concept of the series to do without any commentary “from outside"; by the montage of remarks made by the protagonists themselves, a picture of the respective scene emerges. A further conceptual prin­ciple is to combine a documentary strand with extremely concentrated, artificial short contributions which deal with details of each theme: clothing, instruments, rituals... Lost in Music was awarded the "Silver Cable" and the "Adolf Grimme Prize '94" for its "inno­ vative style" and the "lively, unconven­ tional manner" in which each topic was handled.
