Open Web Award nominees

Nominated for the Open Web Award are three projects that critically consider and make use of the potential of the Open Web. They have an online component, implement open and free technology and facilitate participation and collaboration. Drumbeat Project Producer Henrik Moltke represented award partner Mozilla at the jury session.

From 15 October 2010 the nominated works will be made available on the Mozilla Drumbeat Platform for a public vote that will determine the winner of this award.

Open Web Award Nominees Announced!

At the end of September the transmediale festival Awards jury comprised of Matteo Pasquinelli, Marisa Olson, Brandon LaBelle, Defne Ayas and Micz Flor, was joined by Henrik Moltke, Drumbeat's European Projects Producer to select the candidates for the first ever Open Web Award! From about 100 diverse entries from around the world the jury chose three works that met the Open Web Award requirements of critical and innovative new projects in the realm of artistic practice that use and promote open technologies, incite collaborative methodologies and clearly demonstrate the unbound potential of the open web in ways that can spark new thinking and practice.

The nominees are Booki by the international FLOSS Manuals group, the Graffiti Analysis / Graffiti Markup Language project by Evan Roth (us), and the Thimbl Decentralized Microblogging platform by the Berlin-based collective Telekommunisten.

The winner of the Open Web Award 2011, to be announced in Berlin at transmediale's Award Ceremony on 5 February 2011, will receive a total prize of 5000,- Euros, and be given the opportunity to have supported status on Drumbeat.

From 15 October 2010 the nominated works will be made available on Drumbeat for a public vote that will determine the winner of this award. In order to leave your vote and comment on the project please register as a user on the  Mozilla Drumbeat platform where the projects are being hosted. Doing this requires only a few simple steps.
