‘Picidae’ is open source software in which the Internet becomes an object of investigation into ideas, freedom of action, language, and barriers. The URL of a censored website can be specified. The requested site then is converted into an image and sent back to the user. Through the transformation of site content into pictures, the project offers the opportunity to elude text-based censorship programs.
