Two Women And a Man, Roee Rosen, Israel 2005, 17'
The Confessions of Roee Rosen, Roee Rosen, Israel 2008, 57'

In his work Roee Rosen appears in multiple roles: man, woman, and artist group. These various identities engage in dialog with one another; they speak for him, about him, and about his fictional alter egos. Rosen uses these strategies to make visible critical, historical, and social narratives of power, powerlessness, and oppression. Two Women And a Man is part of his series of works titled Justine Frank about the life and work of an imaginary Jewish female surrealist in the 1930s. Rosen’s Confessions are delivered by female surrogates, three illegal workers, who read their monologues from a teleprompter in broken Hebrew. Both works are to be shown in Berlin for the first time at transmediale. Rosen's first solo exhibition in Germany is also on at Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art in Oldenburg from 29 January until 10 April, 2016.

Presented in cooperation with Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art.
