Les Contaminations" draws a portrait of Andy Warhol's generation through interviews with members and friends of the "Factory." Among those appearing are Jonas Mekas, Paul Morrissey, John Cale, Pierre Restany, Nam June Paik, Bully Name, Alan Vega, Eric Mitchell and Elliot Murphy. "Les Contaminations" documents a psychic state, a galaxy of artists, their passions and their unique viewpoints. The narration incessantly moves from the real to the fictitious. Reality always remains the result of a production, causing levels to mix and fuse: the dissolving of the image (you will recall Warhol's concept of "multiple vision “) opens up memory and presents reality as two realms of representation, always referring back to their dreamlike, phantasy-produced quality. Another homage to experimental movies can be found in the way the pictures are treated: by scratching and mill-cutting.
