Open Government and the Citizen 2.0: The Future of Participative Democracy Workshop by and with Daniel Dietrich & Christian Kreutz
Open data and social media change the way citizens can interact and engage with government. Are governments ready for this engagement? Civil society and citizen-driven projects explore new venues for quicker information access and direct engagement in politics. But: Are citizens ready for more participation and collaboration? This presentation focuses on emerging e-participation platforms to analyse and discuss key factors for these projects to become successful. The workshop will explore new approaches to using open data for more transparency, to re-think digital participation in the local context and look at new services that attempt to catch citizens' needs in their respective context. The workshop is hosted by Daniel Dietrich and Christian Kreutz from the Open Knowledge Foundation and Open Data Network.
