Open Video Workshop by and with Elizabeth Stark
Open Video Workshop by and with Elizabeth Stark
Elizabeth Stark, co-founder of the Open Video Alliance, leads this workshop to collaboratively explore the future of video via the following themes: (1) remix culture and participation, (2) open standards, free software, and new technologies, (3) copyright and the commons, (4) net neutrality, and (5) free speech.
The workshop will address the current state of video in each of these fields, and will explain the reasons why video can't currently be copied and pasted like text or images. Scenarios for the future of video will be discussed and charted out, as the focus turns to tangible solutions addressing the most pressing issues that face a global open video environment.
Open Video is the movement to promote free expression and innovation in online video.
The Open Video Alliance is a coalition of organisations and individuals committed to advance the Open Video movement, they believe the power of moving image should belong to everyone and they strive for more diversity, decentralisation, interoperability, competition and accessibility in the use of video online.
