Sumugan Sivanesan

Sumugan Sivanesan is an artist, writer and researcher currently based in Berlin. In 2016 he was a research fellow at the University of Potsdam, Department of English American Studies (Cultural Studies) where he followed artist-activists organising in the wake of the UN COP21 summit, Paris 2015. With artist and writer Tessa Zettel he co-founded the T Rudzinskaitė Memorial Amateur Lichenologists Society at the Nida Art Colony, Lithuania (2018), a SF (semi-fictional, speculative future, feminist science) collective who, in part, narrate possible futures for the arts infrastructures they inhabit. In Berlin he has produced projects with Momentum (2012), ZK/U Centre for Art and Urbanistics (2014, 2015), Art Laboratory Berlin (2015), The School of Machines, Making and Make-Believe (2017), ex-embassy (2018) and BEBoP: Black European Body Politics (2012, 2018). Over 2005 and 2006 he was a co-director for Electrofringe, an annual festival for emerging media arts and culture in Newcastle, Australia.
