The Panic Room at transmediale/conversationpiece is a space for informal discussion that has a continuous rather than event-based form. The metaphor of the panic room suggests both a context for dealing with urgent topics and for withdrawal: visitors can re-orient themselves within the ongoing festival and engage with topics out of their specified domains.

Das neue transmediale-Projekt Co-Curricular will Medienkompetenzen für das postdigitale Zeitalter stärken und Plattform für den Austausch der transmediale mit Partnern aus Bildung und Wissenschaft sein. In den Workshops, Seminaren und partizipatorischen Veranstaltungen tauschen sich Studierende, Nachwuchswissenschaftler_innen und neuen Medienschaffende mit führenden Medienkünstler_innen, Aktivist_innen und transdisziplinären Forscher_innen aus.

transmediale Co-Curricular is a new project aiming to foster media literacy for the post-digital era and to strengthen the exchange between transmediale and its network of educational and research partners. Workshops, seminars, and participatory formats are specially planned to invite students, young academics, and new practitioners to work together with leading media artists, activists, and transdisciplinary researchers.

Tacit Futures: Diving Into Snowden Archives is a series of dialogues curated by Berliner Gazette at transmediale 2016.
The Snowden archives encompass documents leaked by former NSA subcontractor Edward Snowden and then published in part by major newspapers. These revelations initiated a global debate about the role of secret services in democracies, citizen rights in the age of digital networks, and big data and the industries of prediction.
