aquabitArt is a place for the art of young Berliners, ranging from painting and sculpture, to video and digital art. All artworks are also presented online. Each exhibition has its own theme, developing a unique link between the venue and the artwork itself. Since April 2009 the venue has been situated in Auguststrasse, where exhibitions and performances take place regularly.

For transmediale.11, aquabitArt presents the further development of the previous project TOUCH ME which was based on interactive light boards and old TVs as building blocks. The focus of this new group exhibition PIXELATE ME is to redefine the meaning of the pixel and examine how pixels give us information, how they interact and how the human brain can understand, re-interprete and assemble this visual information. While the pixels gather to form information, the medium itself becomes a message carrier. Human senses can read only analogue information. With all the digital information we receive today, we use interface and platforms, such as monitors and screens with a digital-analogue bridge for understanding the 0 and 1. This mechanism is virtually shown by the installation set-up PIXELATE ME, where the viewer has the ability to retrace the overflow of information back to its single sources. At PIXELATE ME the viewer can switch from the single pixel to the final image and reverse, while at the same time it belongs to his/her senses to define the actual scale of the seen image.
 

The participating five artists independently and frequently present their own projects in Berlin and internationally: as video or performance artists, painters, installation-artists and curators. Inspired by the interactivity of the light-boards of Benjamin Piltz, this group exhibition is another example of the creative collaboration between Lan Hungh, Juan Arata, St. & St., SSMIDD and Constantin Hartenstein.
