transmediale Award 2009 - Gewinner

Gewinner des ersten Preises (dotiert mit 5.000 Euro) sind Graham Harwood, Richard Wright und Matsuko Yokokoji aus Großbritannien. Ihre Installation Tantalum Memorial ist ein Denkmal für die drei Millionen Toten aus den Kongo-Kriegen des letzten Jahrzehnts um den Rohstoff Coltan, der für den Bau von Mobiltelefonen benutzt wird und wertvoller ist als Gold.

Die beiden zweiten Preise (jeweils 1.500 Euro) gehen an den in Berlin lebenden US-Amerikaner Reynold Reynolds für Six Apartments, eine Split-Screen Videoarbeit über isoliert lebende Menschen in Hoffnungslosigkeit und Verfall, sowie an den Portugiesen Rudolfo Quintas für Burning The Sound, eine interaktive Performance über die Natur von Ritualen, Macht und Kontrolle.
