Ant Farm

Ant Farm

Ant Farm’s activities depart from architecture, from the living conditions of modern man, but expand into a transdisciplinary field merging material reality and speculative imagination. They quickly became concerned with the social politics of the new intensified media environment. In 1971 "the farmers" drove across the US in the Media Van, a vehicle equipped with analogue and digital media allowing the public to acquire first-hand experience. However, the performance Media Burn (shown in the exhibition) is different: the farmers, dressed as astronauts, drive through a wall of flaming TV sets in a Cadillac aesthetically modified for the space age.
