“There's something new and important in the Italian scene: the work of Cinico TV, with whom our collaboration started only a few months ago. It is anti-TV, but broadcast by TV, neither video nor film, neither fiction nor documentary, a deeply needed and meaningful creation for the authors, Franco Maresco and Daniele Cipri. beginning in 1987, they are now getting more and more space with their black and white shorts that plunge us into the feeling and the pain of the life in Palermo, the city known all over the world as the mafia-capital. Palermo is the town where more than forty years of Demo-Christian control led to devastating levels of war-like conflicts in the daily reality of a big city. The way Cinico-TV shows us this dimension is, in our opinion, very significant. Quoting from movies, television, videos and even “Beckett-style” theatre, its productions go in the same direction Tape Connection followed in these years, somehow connecting itself with our thoughts and activities.
Our intention is to get this work known in Europe before the power of official television, as is happening, may appropriate it, eliminating its critical side or transforming it into soft, ironical and useless vignettes for entertainment. "
