Born and raised in Hong Kong, Didi Kirsten Tatlow is a correspondent for the New York Times based in Beijing where she lives with her husband, two children and two Chinese Boxer dogs. She looks at the “inside” and the “outside” in telling the China story, at women, sex, non-economic development, and social and aesthetic issues that are often overlooked; disability, serial murder, art and culture. Her early years in Hong Kong, then a colony, gave insight into race and exploitation and the lived, un-Orientalist reality of China.
