Markus Krajewski is Associate Professor of Media History of Science at the Faculty of Media at Bauhaus University Weimar. He is author of Paper Machines. About Cards & Catalogs, 1548–1929 (The MIT Press, 2011), Der Diener. Mediengeschichte einer Figur zwischen König und Klient (S. Fischer, 2010) and of Restlosigkeit: Weltprojekte um 1900 (S. Fischer, 2006). Among his current research projects arethe media and cultural history of servants and the epistemology of the peripheral, also he is developer and maintainer of the bibliography software synapsen—a hypertextual card index (www.verzetteln.de/synapsen).
